Creative Commons Copyright

Benefits of Creative Commons Copyright Licenses

The Creative Commons copyright licenses and apparatuses produce an equilibrium inside the traditional “all rights saved” setting that copyright law makes. Our devices give everybody from individual makers to extensive organizations and establishments a basic, standardized approach to allow copyright consents to their creative work. The blend of our tools and our clients is an immense and developing advanced center, a pool of substance that can be duplicated, disseminated, altered, remixed, and based upon, all inside the limits of copyright law.

License design and rationale

Every creative common license share numerous imperative highlights for all. Each permit helps makers — we call them licensors in the event that they utilize our instruments — hold copyright while enabling others to duplicate, disseminate, and make a few employments of their work — at least non-commercially. Each Creative Commons permit also make sure that each licensor gets the credit of their work. Each Creative Commons permit works throughout the world and keeps it going as long as relevant copyright endures (in light of the fact that they are based on copyright). These basic highlights fill in as the standard, over which licensors can give extra consents when choosing how they need their work to be utilized.

A Creative Commons licensor addresses a couple of basic inquiries on the way to picking a permit — first, would I like to permit commercial use or not, and afterward second, would I like to permit derivative works or not? On the off chance that a licensor chooses to permit derivative works, she may likewise choose that any individual who utilizes the work — we call them licensees — to make that new work accessible under a similar permit term. We call this thought “Share Alike” and it is one of the instruments that (if chosen) enables the computerized commons to develop after some time. Share Alike is motivated by the GNU Overall population Permit, utilized by many free and open source programming ventures.

How to Find Non-Copyrighted Pictures

Putting visual images in a PowerPoint presentation makes the reader understand the idea more rapidly rather than making bullets and filling up the slides with sentences. If there is still need to put words in the pictures than limit it to just one or two words, that is what Garr Reynolds wrote in a book Presentation Zen some years back. The reason behind this concept is that the human brain processes verbal and visual data side by side. Pictorial description when chosen effectively makes the audience get that point easily and then complement it.

Some people don’t know how to get those high-quality images. Do you know it? No? there’s nothing to worry about it because we have a platform named Flickr which contains approximately 7 billions or more images. These images are very attractive and useful and are also licensed by Creative Commons.

Creative Commons is an American based non-profit organization that gives license to images. When someone takes images and wants to make that image an official property then creative commons helps them to get a copyright to that image. Now if you want that image in any way then the proper way to get that image is by contacting the owner of that image and ask for permission. If the image is in Creative Commons than it can be used without permission. In case of your Coursera lectures, images licensed for commercial use can be used.

When you need a picture for using it in a presentation then go to Comfited and type the keyword (like birds) there appears a large number of images. In the left side of the make sure to apply filter by clicking on the commercial tag. The images that are permitted for commercial use only will appear. If you are attracted by any image then click on it, you will be directed to the Flickr page of that picture. Look for license details of that picture and make yourself confirm that the image is with the proper license.

Now for saving that photo look up at the menu for “Actions”, and select the option of “View all sizes”. Then select the larger version to save and then use in your presentation. Images with smaller sizes should not be selected because when that images will be stretched to make it larger then pixels of that image will be disturbed resulting in a blurry image, which is not quite presentable. The recommended size is 1024 pixels. Bigger than that is also not good as it will take time to load.

Another point to note is to always remember to credit the image licensed under Creative Commons.

The technical details on the above-mentioned point are to be depended on the computer system one is using.

Do you think that image doesn’t represent any specific idea? then it may not be evident. It is obliging to think analogously rather than literally. In other words, the conceptual layer needs to be skipped.

If there is a need to have a specific image like heart or brain than there is also a platform. Wikimedia Commons (WC) is a platform that contains all the images available on Wikipedia. Many images available on this platform can be used as the license of the images are expired are free to be used for commercial purposes. Just search for the picture and find the proper size of that photo.

So that is how one can make a presentation that can be well-understood by the audience and let you make the presentation earlier and copyright free. In this era of computer, there is a need to protect the intellectual property rights of the others.

Distinct ways of Giving Creative Commons Association

Creative Common licenses are open permits. You can utilize them to show what other individuals are permitted to do with your work. Each work is naturally secured by plagiarism, which implies that others should ask authorization from you as the copyright proprietor.

It is evident from the license categories that many times you are not required to attribute or associate the original picture to its writer.

1. Remember the license on chosen image.

To do as such, begin by composing in a search term that portrays the picture you need. When you discover one, pause for a minute to realize what the terms of the License is for the image and Insert it into your post. For pictures on Flickr, you’ll see this license marked on the bottom right hand corner of the picture.

2. Redistribution of this work

Except if generally stipulated by the picture’s creator, there are two different ways to suitably credit that person to your redistributed picture:

  • “Image by [name of creator].” If you haven’t altered or based upon the real picture, this expression – or something like it – does the trick to give appropriate credit.
  • “This picture was changed from [start of image] by [name of creator].” If you have altered the picture from its unique form, it’s politeness to say so in your association note.

3. Linking to Original Image

When you’ve recognized the License of your picture and worked out an association line that depict it, you should simply hyperlink the creator’s name or the starting point of the picture to the presentation page from which you originally downloaded it.

 How to Deal Creative Commons

Pictures that have been made accessible for use through a Creative common license can without much of a stretch be found on Flickr or Wikimedia House.

  • “Labeled for republish” delivers each permit.
  • “labeled for non-commercial republish with upgradation “produces the Non-Commercial permit,
  • “labeled for non-commercial republish” produces the No Derivs permit.

Citations required of Creative Commons

According to Creative Commons license program you need to:

  • keep connected with any plagiarism notices for the Work
  • credit the Creator, licensor and additionally different gatherings, in the way they indicate:
  • Incorporate or connect the title of the Work

Creative Commons Images

It is obvious that when a blogger starts its journey, they usually search images through google search engine. But the fact is, those images are either already used somewhere else or are restrictive because of copyright terms.

Creative commons are the best alternative to all those issues that a beginner could face regarding images. This allows authors and creators to distribute their work legally and for further use as well.

This blog explains all the quires that one can face while using creative commons. In order to have legal distribution of work, this blog shows that how to attribute images that published under particular license.

The free stock of photos can be download, no attribution is required.

Important Features?

Creative common is a well-renowned, non-profit organization that allow photographers and artists to label their content so that it can later be used by others as well. According to this, there are six different licenses that an artist can use. Each one of them has distinct features that is each allow different level of permitting a different level of legal rights to share the content or reused by the end user.

So, can you guess the appearance of these creative common licenses?  How do they look like? And what type of rights do they provide to the person who wanted to republish the licensed image?

Licenses of creative common

If someone wanted to use the licensed image on the blog, he or she must check the terms of the license. There are several images which only require you to attribute the work to the main author. But there are some other that include additional restrictions.

Here is an immediate of the several types of Creative common licenses available to publishers.

Attribution

This is the most used license that offers large opportunity for sharing and republishing the content.  Under this you allowed to upgrade, modify and build your own content but it can happen only as long as you attribute the work to original author.

It is to be make sure that the original writer has not forced you to do so in any way.

Share Alike

As name indicates, under this license category, one can modify the article and build upon the original media, as long as you associate it with the main author and publish it with respect to the same license.

The particular image should not be place in other more restrictive terms and conditions.

No Derivs

Using this license is somehow tricky. This section restricts the activity of sharing and republishing. This allows only the exact copies of the work can keep into account. No edited versions of the work can be used.

In other words, the modifying, upgrading and building upon the original content is not done under this section.

Non-Commercial

This the most unique section, that allows you to do all type of modifications and editing, even building upon the original content. But the fact is that it cannot be republished for any kind of commercial use.

This license is very much affective for the business bloggers.  This is true that blogs are not itself stream of revenue, but they can somehow support and gather customers for a revenue generating business. Hence, it is the best way to avoid media under this license section if you are publishing to a blog of company, unless the media author says itself.

Non-Commercial-Share ALike

This permit carries the principles of the Non-commercial and share Alike licenses in the meantime.

While reusing these sorts of Imaginative pictures, you can redistribute, alter, and expand upon the original media as long as it’s not for a commercial reason, you credit the media to the original author , and you republish the picture under the equivalent Non-Commercial Share Alike permit as the original one.

Creative Commons: Concerns on Sharing Publicly Available Data

There is a report by NBC last month in which they emphasized on how IBM is improving the variation in facial recognition technology. A dataset with millions of Flickr photos is used for this. These photos are mostly creative licensed. This step of IBM raised the concerns about how IBM is disturbing the privacy by using a Flickr dataset of improving algorithms. Creative Common is looking forward to meeting with IBM officials to address the concerns on the sharing of publicly available data.

Creative Common (CC) is an American based organization that provide licenses and copyrights to someone’s pictures. Publicly available data have helped masses and paved the path to innovation and ideas generations. But after this issue, real concerns are raised that the pictures or data can be used for negative purposes that may have a bad effect on the community.

There are no facts at the moment about the dataset used by IBM, but here is a hope that the publicly available data will be used fairly. And freely to improve the AI. The license given by CC is for very specific usages. For some issues like individual privacy, copyrights are not a good option.  These are protected by public policies. The solutions will keep in mind the norms and law of CC licenses and publicly available images that are free to be shared online.

It is really hoped that this situation will be used to build principles and values of sharing. Proper discussion session should be arranged to shape the conclusions on issues of privacy, surveillance, and AI. The sharing of work is impacted by this.

This moment is being taken to discuss to improve artificial intelligence, that is being used for facial recognition, by using the content available on the internet.

Let’s get this show on the road

Well it seems like only yesterday Michelle and I were building the beginnings of what today has become Creative Image Licensing & Management (CILM for short). Six weeks ago this company was nothing but a figment of our imagination and something lit a fire under us and all of a sudden we went from 0 to 60 in no time flat.

Here it is. The start of a long journey of bringing Artists and PSPers closer together than ever before. We’ve only scratched the surface and if Michelle and I have anything to do with it PSP Groups stand to grow much bigger and better than they are now with the most loyal copyright conscious people on the planet.

It can’t get much better than that.

Let’s call this week “Launch Week”. We’ll start it off with Martin Abel and make sure all systems are running perfectly. We are so excited to have him kicking off this excitement that we’ve given him 5 days to himself. And I honestly can’t think of a better artist to help us get the ball rolling. (Heh… maybe 5 days to himself isn’t so good – he’s the guinea pig. 8o)

Bah… he’s alright with it and so are we.

I know, I know… you’re like “What?… Where’s all the artists?”

They’re here… I just haven’t announced them yet (and don’t try to get any names out of me – it won’t work 8o). Every week new artists will be announced and before long CILM will be your one-stop image-stop with Michelle crankin’ up some more fun in PSP Stuff. Just wait ’til you find out what she has in store. You’ll get a major kick out of that.

Be sure and check back often… especially on Mondays. That’s when new artist and photographer images go on sale.

A little photography anyone?

So you’re thinking about purchasing Joseph’s packages? Well here are some important points to ponder:

– His Amended TOU gives you liberty to go off on your creations using his images. (Please be respectful of the freedom Joseph has given you guys. If you have any questions about a tag you’ve created with his images please feel free to send those to us for review before you send it out to your groups.)

– Both of the image packages we have released of Joseph’s contain just the images BUT the masked tube packs are completely over the top as far as images. What we have done is taken all of his images and created 4 masked tubes out of each image giving you a total of over 60 images in each pack. Whoa… that’s hard to pass up. If you decide to purchase the regular, complete images with the tubes you can create your own masks from the original image. You literally have thousands of possibilities.

Don’t know what a masked tube is? Well here ya go… a masked tube is basically the image with an effect applied to it on a separate layer. So when you open up the tube you will have the image in 4 different layers with each layer containing a separate effect giving you 4 different variations to use separately or many more variations when you use them together. I’m very excited about this becaucse I know signature groups members are going to come up with some great ideas using these images.

Here is Image #10 out of Package A with the different variations you get in the masked tube package:

Four different masks of the same image on a white background:

And you can also apply all of these masks together if you would like.

– Last but not least you are very welcome to use Joseph’s photographic images with practically any artist NOT in CILM and any artist in CILM as long as you give him appropriate credit: Photo © Joseph Gaston. *Note: Combining his images with other photographers is not allowed.

CILM would like to welcome Joseph and I can’t wait to see what you guys do with his great photography.
